President Henry B. Eyring was set apart as First Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 14, 2025.
Prior to this appointment, President Eyring served in several high-level capacities within the church, including as Second Counselor in the First Presidency for Presidents Russell M. Nelson, Thomas S. Monson, and Gordon B. Hinckley.
President Eyring's previous ecclesiastical service includes roles as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, a member of the Seventy, and First Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric.
He has also served as Commissioner of the Church Educational System, a regional representative, a member of the Sunday School general board, and as a bishop.
Professionally, President Eyring served as president of Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and was a faculty member at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.
A graduate of the University of Utah with a bachelor of science degree in physics, he also holds a master and a doctor of business administration degree from Harvard University.
Born in Princeton, New Jersey, on May 31, 1933, President Eyring married the late Kathleen Johnson in 1962. They had four sons and two daughters.
