Schools throughout the Kane County School District have completed a series of comprehensive emergency and safety drills centered on critical lockdown procedures, according to a report published October 28. These drills are part of an ongoing effort to reinforce security for students and staff.
The safety measures reflect a partnership between the Kane County School District and first responders. The district works with local law enforcement officers to maintain safe school environments and prepare for potential crises.
As part of this strategy, faculty, staff, and students receive regular training on essential security and lockdown protocols. To improve rapid response capabilities, all teachers are equipped with wearable panic alert devices. These pushbutton notifications allow educators to contact law enforcement dispatch instantly during an emergency.
District schools also maintain controlled access through single point-of-entry systems. Under this protocol, all visitors must check in with a school secretary and receive authorization before entering a building.
District administrators expressed appreciation to the Kanab City Police Department, the Utah Highway Patrol, and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the lockdown drills and their continued participation.
