Sara Thompson, a social worker at Edgemont Elementary, has been nominated for the Provo Way Award, according to a September 8 report. The nomination recognizes her for going above and beyond to support the school community in Provo.
The Edgemont Celebrations Committee, composed of administrators and teachers, nominated Thompson for her dedication to the school. In addition to helping students with social and emotional needs, Thompson manages the sixth-grade Student Council, the Kindness Club, and Hope Squad.
According to the nomination, Thompson is always willing to assist when students or staff require support. The committee noted that she is frequently seen checking in with parents, teachers, and students with care.
The Provo Way Award is intended to recognize individuals who strengthen schools through their service to others. The nomination stated that Thompson helps create a safe environment where parents, teachers, and students feel heard and valued.
