Bluff Elementary School is monitoring weather conditions for potential impacts on the school schedule, according to a notice from Principal Mrs. McDermott. The school is preparing for potential late starts, early dismissals, or full closures as a wet season is anticipated.
In an undated notice, the school outlined a tentative schedule based on current weather predictions. While Wednesday, Oct. 21, was scheduled for a full day, Thursday, Oct. 22, was noted as a potential school closure for at-home learning or a virtual day. The status for Friday, Oct. 23, remained to be determined.
In the event of a full-day closure, the school stated that classroom teachers will connect with parents at least once during the day via text, email, phone call, or video conference. Students must complete at least one assignment during such closures, which may consist of a single daily assignment, a packet, or a multi-day project.
The school advised parents and guardians to create emergency plans for early dismissals, late starts, and full closures. Families were also asked to ensure contact numbers and email addresses are kept current in Aspire.
If road conditions prevent students from reaching bus stops while buses are running, the school requested that parents notify staff to establish an at-home learning plan. For students attending other schools, such as ARL or SJH, staff will coordinate at-home or virtual learning opportunities.
Bluff Elementary stated that once a decision regarding schedule changes is made by the Superintendent, updates will be shared within 15 minutes. The school noted that if no communication is received, school will remain in session. All announcements will be posted on sjsd.org and the Bluff Elementary news feed.
