Desert Thunder Raceway concluded its 2026 racing season in late September with a series of divisional victories, including wins for Zane DeVilbiss and Payce Herrera. The Price-based dirt track held its final events on Sept. 24, 25, and 26, capping off a season that included high-stakes championship battles like the 2025 Castle County Clash.
September Season Finale Results
The final weekend of competition saw a wide array of winners across multiple racing classes. On Sept. 26, Zane DeVilbiss secured a victory in the IMCA Modified Division, while Payce Herrera won the Northern Sport Mod Division. Other winners from the Sept. 26 events included Dakoda Sellers in the IMCA Stock Car Division, Steve Bitting, Jr. in the IMCA Hobby Stock Division, Brantley Frans in the Young Guns Sport Compacts Division, and Clay Tillia in the IMCA Sport Compact Division. Mason Gallegos also claimed a win in the Open Class Division.
Friday Racing Highlights
The preceding days of the seasonal conclusion also featured diverse winners. On Sept. 25, Zane DeVilbiss earned another win in the IMCA Modified Division, while Payce Herrera took the Northern Sport Mod Division. The IMCA Stock Car Division saw DeVilbiss take the win, followed by Jaydun Thomas in the IMCA Mod Lites, Brantley Frans in the Young Guns Sport Compacts, and Chaz Nelson in the IMCA Sport Compact Division. Tod Alonzo was the winner for the Open Class Division on that Friday.
Historical Championship Battles
The seasonal conclusion follows a history of intense competition at the Price track. During the 2025 Castle County Clash held on Sept. 27, 2025, Braxton Yeager won the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and secured the overall Clash crown after a dramatic battle with Kade Dimick and Waylon Hale. During that same 2025 event, Payce Herrera achieved a weekend sweep, winning in the Northern SportMods and the IMCA Stock Cars to claim the Clash title.
Past Championship Sweeps
The 2025 championship weekend was characterized by several multi-night sweeps. In addition to Herrera's dominance, Austin Gray swept the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites during the 2025 Clash. In the IMCA Sport Compacts, Cody Williams won his feature on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, and secured the overall Clash honors after winning again on Saturday.
