SALT LAKE CITY (Sept. 10, 2026) — The Utah Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to plan ahead for a weekend ramp closure on State Route 201 in Tooele County.

On Friday, Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. until Monday, Sept. 14 at 3 a.m., the ramp from eastbound I-80 to eastbound SR-201 will be closed for pothole patching. To access SR-201, drivers should continue on eastbound I-80, then exit to eastbound SR-202 (Exit 104) until they rejoin eastbound SR-201. Another weekend ramp closure will occur in the same area later this month.

This weekend closure is part of a project to address potholes on two SR-201 bridges. In addition to the ramp closure, drivers should also expect nightly lane closures on SR-201 near 9180 West every Monday through Thursday night, as crews make repairs to the 9200 West bridge later this month.

Work on both bridges is estimated to wrap up in mid-October.

Drivers should also plan for the following upcoming closures and restrictions:

I-84 in Riverdale: On Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 p.m. through Sunday, Sept. 13, at 8 a.m., crews will use a crane to install new steel beams for the I-84 bridges. Westbound I-84 will be closed and detoured, while eastbound I-84 will remain open with traffic reduced to one lane. In addition, 4400 South will be closed between the roundabouts.

I-80 near East Canyon: The on-ramp to eastbound I-80 at East Canyon (Exit 134) will close overnight on Friday, Sept. 11, and Friday, Sept. 18, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for utility work. Drivers heading east on I-80 should travel to Exit 132 (1320 South) to turn around. Drivers should plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

State Street near the Utah State Capitol: Beginning Monday, Sept. 14, State Street will close between North Temple and 300 North through the end of November for work on the Pioneer Trail. The closure will remain in place around the clock. The intersections at North Temple and 300 North will remain open, but drivers will not be able to travel on State Street between them. Drivers should use Main Street as an alternate route and allow extra travel time.

UDOT reminds drivers that construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. For the latest updates, visit the UDOT Traffic website or download the UDOT Traffic app for iPhone or Android. You can also follow UDOT on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for real-time updates.
