Major League Soccer has announced the roster for the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge presented by AT&T, which is set to begin on July 28, 2026. The event will be held at Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina, starting at 7:30 pm ET and will be broadcast live on Apple TV.
This year's competition introduces a new format where each individual challenge will crown its own champion, moving away from the traditional MLS versus opponent structure used in previous years. While the format has changed, the night will conclude with an MLS and LIGA MX relay challenge.
The 2026 edition features several distinct competitions designed to test different aspects of soccer skill:
All-Star Shooting Challenge: Players aim at multiple targets for 60 seconds to achieve the highest score.
All-Star Passing Challenge: A head-to-head test of accuracy and distribution speed.
All-Star Goalie Wars: A high-intensity battle where goalkeepers use kicking and throwing to score on opponents.
All-Star Crossbar Challenge: Players attempt to strike the crossbar from the top of the 18-yard box.
MLS vs. Liga MX Relay Challenge: A timed team relay involving elements from the previous challenges.
The roster includes players from 10 different teams, headlined by Charlotte FC defender and USMNT captain Tim Ream and Los Angeles Football Club forward Son Heung-min. The competition will also feature participants from MLS NEXT Pro, including Houston Dynamo 2 goalkeeper Pedro Cruz.
The MLS All-Star Skills Challenge roster includes Zavier Gozo of Real Salt Lake, along with players such as Evander of FC Cincinnati, Petar Musa of FC Dallas, and Matt Freese of New York City Football Club. The event will be available to watch in more than 100 countries and regions via the Apple TV app.
