A heat advisory remains in effect until 7 AM MDT on August 22 for several Utah regions, including the Salt Lake Valley, Tooele and Rush Valleys, Northern Wasatch Front, Eastern Box Elder County, Utah Valley, and the Great Salt Lake Desert and Mountains. High temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s across much of the state on August 22.
In the Salt Lake Valley, including Salt Lake City, West Jordan, and Sandy, the day will be partly sunny in the morning before becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs are expected in the mid 90s with a 20 percent chance of precipitation.
In the Tooele and Rush Valleys, including Tooele, Grantsville, and Vernon, highs will reach the mid 90s with a 20 percent chance of precipitation. The Northern Wasatch Front, including Ogden and Bountiful, will see highs in the mid 90s and clearing skies. In Eastern Box Elder County, including Brigham City and Snowville, highs will be in the mid 90s.
Utah Valley, including Lehi, Provo, and Payson, expects highs in the mid 90s. The Great Salt Lake Desert and Mountains, including Wendover, Dugway, and Park Valley, will see highs in the upper 90s with a 30 percent chance of precipitation.
In the San Rafael Swell, including Green River and Goblin Valley, highs will reach the upper 90s. The Western Uinta Basin, including Duchesne and Roosevelt, will see highs in the lower 90s with a 50 percent chance of precipitation.
In Southern Utah, temperatures will be significantly higher. Lower Washington County, including St George, Hurricane, and Ivins, is forecasting highs around 105. Zion National Park, including Springdale, is also forecasting highs around 105. Glen Canyon Recreation Area/Lake Powell, including Big Water and Bullfrog, expects highs around 102.
Other areas including the Wasatch Mountains, Western Uinta Mountains, and Sanpete Valley will see temperatures ranging from the 70s to the 90s depending on the specific location.
