Brigham Young University released its Fall 2026 devotional and forum schedule on Sept. 8, featuring a series of addresses from religious leaders and journalists. The upcoming lineup includes several Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a scheduled forum with American journalist Ross Douthat.
Weekly Gathering Schedule
According to a schedule released by BYU on Sept. 8, most weekly devotional and forum addresses are scheduled for Tuesdays at 11:05 a.m. These gatherings, which serve students, faculty, staff, and the broader campus community, will primarily be held in the BYU Marriott Center.
Unless specifically noted otherwise, the university plans to broadcast these events live on BYUtv, BYUtv.org, and BYUradio. The university also provides on-demand streaming through archives on speeches.byu.edu to allow for later viewing.
September Speaker Lineup
The September schedule includes addresses from prominent figures within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. On Sept. 15, Elder Neil L. Andersen is scheduled to give a devotional. Andersen, who was named an Apostle on April 4, 2009, previously served as the senior member of the Presidency of the Seventy and held mission leadership roles in France and Tampa, Florida.
Following Andersen, Elder Alexander Dushku is scheduled to speak on Sept. 22. Dushku, a General Authority Seventy called on Aug. 15, 2023, is a BYU alumnus who earned a bachelor of arts in economics in 1990 and a juris doctor from BYU Law School in 1993. He currently works as an attorney for Kirton McConkie.
October and November Speakers
The university will host American author and journalist Ross Douthat for a forum on Sept. 29. Douthat, a television correspondent for CBS News' 60 Minutes, has previously served as an opinion columnist for The New York Times and as a senior editor at The Atlantic. He is the author of several books and hosts the podcast "Interesting Times."
October's schedule begins with the Homecoming Opening Ceremony on Oct. 6. Following the ceremony, Rebekka Matheson, an associate professor and course director for the Brain, Behavior, and Movement course at the BYU School of Medicine, is scheduled to speak on Oct. 13. Matheson also serves as the chair of the faculty council of the faculty senate for the School of Medicine.
Religious Leadership Addresses
Bishop L. Todd Budge is scheduled to deliver a devotional on Oct. 20. Budge, who was named First Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric on Nov. 14, 2025, has a background in finance, having worked for Bain & Company Japan, Citibank, N.A., and GE Capital. He previously served as the president and chief executive officer of Tokyo Star Bank Limited and as chairman of its board.
Elder Ronald A. Rasband is scheduled to speak on Oct. 27. Rasband, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles since Oct. 3, 2015, has held various leadership roles, including serving as a counselor in the Europe Central Area Presidency and as executive director of the Temple Department.
Late Fall Schedule
The November schedule includes Audrey Perry Martin on Nov. 3, who serves as the assistant to the president for University Communications. Appointed to the role on June 1, 2025, Martin acts as the university's primary spokesperson.
Elder Joni L. Koch is scheduled to speak on Nov. 10. Koch, a General Authority Seventy sustained on April 1, 2017, has previously served as president of the Mozambique Maputo Mission and as a member of the Africa Southeast Area Presidency.
Historical and Final Addresses
The university's speaker history includes previous addresses by Bishop Budge. On Feb. 2, 2021, Budge delivered a devotional titled "'Broke' Hearts and Contrite Spirits" while serving as Second Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric. During that address, he discussed the joy and exhilaration of entering into a covenant relationship with God.
As the fall semester progresses, the university will conclude its scheduled addresses in December. President Timothy L. Farnes, sustained as Young Men General President on April 5, 2025, is scheduled to speak on Dec. 1. Elder Gerrit W. Gong is scheduled to deliver the final address of the series on Dec. 8.
Program Purpose
The fall schedule highlights a blend of academic, religious, and journalistic perspectives intended to provide spiritual and temporal edification to the BYU community.
