Gold Cross Ambulance in St. George has received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline EMS Gold achievement award, according to a report published October 27. The award recognizes the agency's commitment to offering rapid and research-based care to individuals experiencing severe heart attacks and strokes.
The Mission: Lifeline EMS achievement award focuses on the on-scene care provided by agencies, highlighting the collaboration and contributions made by prehospital providers to patient care.
Mike Reynolds, Vice President of Operations for Gold Cross Services, stated that the company is honored to be recognized by the American Heart Association for its dedication to providing optimal care for heart attack patients. He noted that the Mission: Lifeline program utilizes proven knowledge and guidelines daily to provide patients with the best possible chance of survival.
Emergency medical services staff can begin treatment upon arrival, which can be up to an hour sooner than if an individual travels to a hospital by car. Additionally, EMS staff are trained to provide resuscitation efforts for those whose heart has stopped. Patients arriving by ambulance may also receive faster treatment once they reach the hospital.
Mission: Lifeline EMS is a national initiative by the American Heart Association designed to advance the system of care for patients with high-risk, time-sensitive disease states. The program aims to reduce barriers to prompt treatment, from the initial 911 call through EMS transport and hospital discharge.
