Real Monarchs fell 4-0 to San Jose Earthquakes II in their final road game of 2026 on Sunday, September 13, according to a report from Real Salt Lake. The loss officially eliminated the Monarchs from postseason contention in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season.
San Jose Earthquakes II established dominance early in the match. Tomo Allen opened the scoring in the 17th minute following a failed clearance by the Monarchs. In the 40th minute, Zachary Bohane scored a one-touch strike to extend the lead to 2-0 before the halftime break.
San Jose continued the momentum early in the second half, with Bohane scoring his second goal via a header just 20 seconds after the restart. Nick Fernandez added a fourth goal for the Earthquakes II in the 58th minute with a strike from outside the box. The Monarchs were held to zero shots on goal during the match.
Head Coach Mark Lowry implemented four changes to the starting lineup for the match, which included the return of Luis Rivera, Gio Villa, and Liam O’Gara. Max Kerkvliet returned to the starting position in goal and recorded six saves during the contest.
The Real Monarchs are scheduled to play Minnesota United FC 2 on Wednesday, September 16, at Zions Bank Stadium. The match is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. MT.
