Deer Valley Resort has reached a significant milestone in its expansion efforts following the recent placement of lift towers for new installations. The resort is preparing for the 2/5/26 ski season, which will feature the largest ski resort expansion in history by more than doubling its skiable terrain.
Following an event titled Expanded Excellence: Future in Flight, spectators observed the aerial placement of towers for the Pinyon Express bubble lift and the East Village Express 10-passenger gondola. These developments are part of a larger initiative to increase access across newly developed terrain.
The upcoming season will debut seven new chairlifts, including the East Village Express gondola. Since December 2024, Deer Valley has added 10 new lifts in total. The resort now features 31 total lifts and 4,300 skiable acres.
The East Village Express gondola is described as Utah's first 10-passenger gondola. Spanning nearly three miles with a vertical rise of 2,570 feet, the system is designed to transport guests from the East Village to Park Peak in 15 minutes. The system features 40 towers, 142 cabins, and operates at 1,400 feet per minute.
Another key addition is the Pinyon Express, a six-passenger bubble lift that connects existing terrain on Flagstaff Mountain to new high alpine trails near Park Peak. This lift includes 11 towers and 58 chairs.
In addition to lift upgrades, the Deer Valley East Village will provide 1,200 day-skier parking spaces this season. The expansion also includes a new automated snowmaking system and a dedicated pumphouse to support the increased terrain.
Deer Valley Resort President and COO Todd Bennett stated that the placement of the first towers marks the beginning of skiing from Park Peak and represents a key step in doubling the resort's terrain for the upcoming winter, which will include nearly 100 new ski runs.
