The Salt Lake City Council appointed Jennifer Napier-Pearce to represent District 4 on June 9, 2026, following several rounds of voting by council members.
New District 4 Representative
Napier-Pearce was sworn into office immediately after her selection. The District 4 seat covers the downtown area and Napier-Pearce will serve for the remainder of the term ending January 3, 2028.
Appointment Process and Future Elections
Council Chair Alejandro "Ale" Puy said the appointment followed a thoughtful and deliberative process. He noted that the seat will appear on the ballot during the 2027 municipal elections.
Santa Clara Water Rate Hearing
In a separate municipal matter, the City of Santa Clara announced it will hold a public hearing on June 24, 2026, to discuss a proposed water rate increase from the Washington County Water Conservancy District.
