The Navajo Revitalization Fund Board met via Zoom on April 22, 2026, to review fund balances and approve multiple project applications. During the session, chaired by Evan Curtis, the board moved forward with several housing construction requests while deferring decisions on others due to pending information.
The board approved several new housing projects, including $202,884 for the construction of four new homes in the Aneth Chapter. Other approved residential projects included $41,400 for a new home in the Mexican Water Chapter and $56,672 for a three-bedroom home in the Oljato Chapter intended for residents whose previous home burned down.
In addition to housing, the board approved $10,000 for upgrades to the Utah Learning Center and Warehouse in the Navajo Mountain Chapter. The board also voted to approve a request from the Utah Navajo Trust Fund to use non-chapter funds to cover shortfalls for 23 completed housing projects, excluding three specific projects that had not yet been presented to the board.
Regarding grant management, the board followed staff recommendations to renew or close various grants. This included a decision to renew grant #580 for the Navajo Chapter and a request from the Navajo Utah Commission to reopen and extend grant 504 through December 31, 2028.
Some items remained unresolved during the meeting. The board tabled a decision on $43,521 requested for the Mission Discovery School's Monument Valley Summer Camp due to concerns regarding the building's land status and potential title transfers.
Additionally, the board did not reach a decision on funding requests from the Red Mesa Chapter for 16 new homes. The chapter planned to refine their funding totals and present them at a future meeting. The board noted that requests for non-chapter funds had exceeded available balances.
The next meeting is scheduled for July 16, 2026. At the time of the April meeting, fund balances included $1,244,304.75 for Oljato and $530,564.55 for Aneth.
