Real Salt Lake secured a dominant 3-1 victory against rival Sporting Kansas City on Oct. 17, 2026, according to a report published by the club. The win snapped a 13-game winless streak away from home and marked the club's first road victory since March 7.
Morgan Guilavogui scored his first career RSL brace during the match. He opened the scoring in the 11th minute after finding the back of the net following a pass from Noel Caliskan, who had received the ball from Juan Manuel Sanabria. Guilavogui's goal was his first in more than two months, following his last goal on Aug. 19 against FC Dallas.
Two minutes later, in the 14th minute, Sergi Solans doubled the lead with a right-footed shot assisted by Guilavogui. Solans has now recorded 12 MLS goals for the club during the 2026 campaign and 16 across all competitions during his rookie season.
Sporting Kansas City responded in the 26th minute when Taylor Calheira scored a goal following a breakaway by André Luiz. However, RSL extended their lead to 3-1 in the 61st minute when Guilavogui finished a pass from Caliskan. Kobi Henry provided a defensive highlight in the 53th minute by heading a ball off the goal line to prevent an equalizer.
The victory moves Real Salt Lake to a 10-14-6 record with 36 points, placing them 10th in the West. The club remains multiple points outside the ninth and final wild card seed in the West with four regular-season matches remaining. This win also extended Real Salt Lake's unbeaten streak against Sporting Kansas City to six games, bringing their all-time record against the rival to 6-1-2 dating back to Oct. 2022.
Real Salt Lake will return home to America First Field to host St. Louis City SC on Saturday, Oct. 24, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The club's final two road matches of the year will be against Austin on Oct. 28 and San Jose on Oct. 31.
