She was born in Blackfoot, Idaho, graduated from Brigham Young University, and has a background as a teacher and music educator, including work with choirs and the Cache Children's Choir. She previously ran for Utah House District 1 and advanced unopposed from the 2026 Democratic primary for Senate District 1.
