Respondent and Observer Feedback: Both respondents and courtroom observers praise Judge Bunnell’s patient, caring approach to youth and the genuine value he places upon them. Observers admire the empowering courtroom environment he creates for juveniles. While some respondents specify that the judge is fair, a few say that he should strive for more consistent neutrality. Survey results suggest that he should improve his legal skills. All four observers report confidence that they would be treated fairly if they were to appear in Judge Bunnell’s court.

Craig M. Bunnell was appointed to serve as a Juvenile Court Judge for the Seventh Judicial District in July 2016, and is currently the Presiding Juvenile Court Judge for Carbon, Emery, Grand and San Juan Counties. Judge Bunnell presides over child-welfare, juvenile-justice, and other juvenile-related cases and proceedings. Since his appointment to the bench, he has served two terms on the Utah Board of Juvenile Court Judges and currently serves on the Child Welfare Court Improvement Training Steering Committee. Prior to his judicial appointment, Judge Bunnell practiced law in numerous counties and districts throughout the state, focusing on several areas of the law. The majority of his previous work was in the juvenile court arena as an attorney-GAL, GAL/PGAL training- facilitator, and administrator with the Utah Office of Guardian ad Litem. Judge Bunnell received his J.D Degree from the University of Utah ('89), B.S. and M.S. Degrees from Brigham Young University ('84, '86), and A.S. Degree from the College of Eastern Utah ('81).
