About
Eric Last is a Democratic candidate for Utah House of Representatives District 17 in the 2026 election. He is a lifelong resident of Davis County, raised in Centerville, a graduate of Viewmont High School and Weber State University with dual degrees in Spanish Language and Literature and Mechanical Engineering Technology. He has lived in the Layton/Kaysville area for the past 24 years with his family and is running as a husband, father, and neighbor rather than a career politician.
Where they stand
Education
Supports protecting public schools with adequate funding and efficient use of taxpayer money; notes Utah's low per-pupil spending and underpaid teachers.
Environment
Advocates reducing emissions for better air quality and addressing climate change; supports restoring the Great Salt Lake with collaborative solutions to divert less water from it.
Healthcare
Seeks to bring affordable health care, not just insurance, to all Utahns, building on the ACA and Medicaid expansion.
Equality
Supports breaking down barriers to equality, reaching out to marginalized groups, and eliminating systemic oppression.
Referendums
