Eric Russell Gentry

Eric R. Gentry is a judge of Utah’s Fifth District Court, appointed in July 2023 by Governor Spencer Cox to succeed retiring Judge Michael Westfall; he serves Beaver, Iron, and Washington Counties. Before joining the bench he was a Deputy County Attorney in the Washington County Attorney’s Office (from 2007), including work on the Special Victims Prosecution team, and earlier served as a prosecutor or assistant city attorney for St. George, Santa Clara, Ivins, and Enterprise and as an associate at St. George law firms. He earned a bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Southern Utah University and a J.D. summa cum laude from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School in 2002, and appears on Utah’s 2026 candidate filings for retention as Judge of the District Court of the Fifth Judicial District under the name Eric Russell Gentry.
