Respondent and Observer Feedback: Respondents admire Judge Gentry’s work ethic and dedication to the law. They say that he is well prepared, and courtroom observers find him to be organized. Both groups praise his respectful demeanor, particularly his approachability and patience. All four observers report confidence that they would be treated fairly if they were to appear in Judge Gentry’s court.

Biography

Judge Eric R. Gentry was appointed to the Fifth District Court in July 2023 by Governor Spencer Cox. He serves Beaver, Iron, and Washington Counties. Prior to his appointment, Judge Gentry worked as a Deputy County Attorney in the Washington County Attorney's Office, as a prosecuting attorney for the cities of St. George, Santa Clara, Ivins, and Enterprise, and as an associate with the law firms of Christopherson, Farris, White, and Utley, and Snow, Jensen, and Reese. Judge Gentry graduated summa cum laude from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 2002.
