Eva Lopez Chavez, a Democrat, is a former Salt Lake City Council member from District 4 who announced her candidacy for Utah's U.S. House District 1 in the 2026 election. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, as the daughter of Mexican immigrants, earned an associate degree from Salt Lake Community College and a bachelor's from the University of Utah, and previously served as executive director and chair of the Salt Lake County Democratic Party. She was eliminated at the Utah Democratic convention and did not advance to the primary.
