Hoang Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American Democratic politician serving as the incumbent representative for Utah House District 23, which covers parts of southern Salt Lake County and a small portion of Summit County. She assumed office on January 1, 2025, after winning the 2024 Democratic primary against Jeff Howell and the general election with 71 percent of the vote against Republican Scott Romney and others. Her family immigrated to the United States from Vietnam as refugees in 1983; she is a University of Utah graduate with a BS in gender studies and holds an MBA, and she works as a business owner and managing partner of Sapa Investments.
