Kent S. Udell
About
Kent S. Udell, also referred to as Kent Stewart Udell or Dr. Kent Udell, is a Democratic candidate for U.S. House Utah District 3 in the 2026 election. He is a retired mechanical engineer, professor emeritus, and former department chair at the University of Utah who has worked in mining, petroleum, geothermal, and solar industries, as well as on water issues, environmental remediation, and sustainable energy. A lifelong Utahn born in Lehi and now residing near Moab, he advanced from the Democratic convention in April 2026 after defeating Steve Merrill and ran unopposed in the canceled Democratic primary.
