About

Liban Mohamed, a 27-year-old Democratic candidate born and raised in Utah to Somali immigrant parents, is a political newcomer and former public policy analyst who worked at the American Heart Association, Meta, and TikTok. He won the Utah Democratic convention nomination in April 2026 with over 51% of delegate votes but placed third in the June 23, 2026 Democratic primary for U.S. House District 1, receiving about 12% of the vote behind Ben McAdams and Nate Blouin. He graduated from Bonneville High School, earned an associate degree from Utah State University in 2019, and a bachelor's in strategic communications from the University of Utah in 2021.
