Sarah Reale is the incumbent Democratic member of the Utah State Board of Education representing District 5, first elected in 2022 after defeating Republican Laurel Fetzer. A Salt Lake native, she holds a master's degree in political science from Utah State University and has nearly two decades of experience in higher education, including as Director of Digital Marketing and Student Experience at Salt Lake Community College and as an adjunct professor of political science. She comes from a family of educators and serves on boards including the Salt Lake City Library Board and Salt Lake County Mountainous Planning District Planning Commission.
