He works as an Engineering Inspector for the city of Saratoga Springs, Utah, where he resides, and is an alumnus of Richfield High School. Hysell advanced from the Democratic convention and primary without appearing on the ballot and is scheduled to face Republican incumbent Jon Hawkins on November 3, 2026.
