Val L. Peterson is a Republican member of the Utah House of Representatives representing District 56, which includes parts of Orem and surrounding areas in Utah County. He assumed the office in January 2011 after initially representing District 59 until 2023 and has served continuously since. Peterson also serves as Vice President of Administration and Strategic Relations at Utah Valley University, where he oversees facilities, athletics, and related operations, and he chairs the House Executive Appropriations Committee.
