Davis County tornado classified as EF-2; tornado width sets new state record

The tornado touched down on Sept. "A few instances of EF-2 tree damage were noted along the southern side of Bair Canyon via Sentinel satellite imagery and other photos from hikers," NWS stated. "This is precisely where some of the heaviest damage occurred to numerous conifer trees, where they were either sheared off completely at the top of the tree or snapped at the base," the report noted.

Video confirms tornado in Davis County, as severe storms pass through Utah

A video that TJ Ward sent to KSL Weather appears to show a tornado that touched down near Bair Canyon. Meteorologists will determine the exact strength after reviewing damage in the area. Based on the video and radar, the twister will likely register between EF-0 and EF-2 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, KSL meteorologist Matt Johnson said.
