GUNNISON — A lockdown at the Central Utah Correctional Facility has been lifted after an incarcerated man assaulted a correctional officer, prompting security restrictions at both of Utah’s state prisons. The incident began Thursday, Sept. 24, when a CUCF inmate assaulted an officer inside a housing unit, according to the Utah Department of Corrections (UDC).
GUNNISON—At their council meeting Sept. 16, the Gunnison City Council took up acquisition of easements for a pipeline connecting the Tarr Canyon well with water tanks closer to the city. UTAH, Sept. 24, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Corrections has placed the Central Utah Correctional Facility (CUCF) in Gunnison and the Utah State Correctional Facility (USCF) in Salt Lake City on lockdown after an inmate reportedly assaulted a guard at the Central Utah facility.
