Traffic stop ends in arrest on I-80

As explained in a probable cause statement written by Deputy Tyler Horne with the Tooele County Sheriff's Office, he conducted a traffic stop on Aug. 18, 2026, on eastbound I-80 after clocking a vehicle going 98 miles per hour in an 80 mph zone.

Tooele County residents arrested in Wendover, Utah

The following information was provided in a probable cause statement written by Officer Skyler Goddard with the Wendover City Police Department. On Aug. 19, 2026, Officer Goddard was dispatched to the Montego Bay parking lot where a suspicious individual was observed at the north east area of the lot.

Multiple fires in 48-hours believed to be caused by lightning

The following information was provided by Bucky Whitehouse, the Emergency Services Director and Hazardous Materials Program Manager for the Tooele County Emergency Services. So, over the course of 48 hours, we had about 10 to 12 fire starts due to these monsoonal cloud systems and fronts that keep coming in, Whitehouse stated.
