The Salt Lake City School District transit pass program has returned, offering students unlimited access to UTA buses, TRAX, UTA On Demand, and the S-Line at no cost to students or parents. The passes are valid for an entire calendar year beginning August 1.
According to information from UTA, the transit pass covers local buses, TRAX, and UTA On Demand. However, the pass does not include FrontRunner, the Ski Bus, or Paratransit. Riders wishing to use FrontRunner must purchase an upgraded ticket when boarding.
For students using UTA On Demand, children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Minors between the ages of 13 and 18 may ride unaccompanied with parental consent. UTA does not provide car seats for riders traveling with children.
A new Guardian Pass has been introduced to support students' journeys. One Guardian Pass is granted per student household, allowing a parent or guardian to accompany their children to and from school or other events. This pass is non-transferable.
Transit passes are distributed through individual schools, and parents are advised to check with school main offices for details. The program is available to students in grades K–12, including those in Salt Lake City School District-sponsored charter schools. Students attending private schools are not eligible for this specific program but may purchase a Reduced Fare FAREPAY card.
