Gilbert Madrid's life and service
Gilbert Madrid passed away peacefully at his home on June 28, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, according to an obituary published by Mitchell Funeral Home. Born in Dragerton, Utah, on March 15, 1948, to Melicendro and Mary Madrid, he was a veteran of the United States Army.
During his three years of service in Vietnam, Madrid served with the 101st Airborne and was active during the Tet Offensive. His military career earned him several honors, including the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Parachute Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
Following his military service, Madrid spent over 30 years working in various mines throughout Carbon and Emery counties. He was notably a crucial member of the operations following the Wilberg Mine Disaster of 1984. After retiring from the mining industry, he enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle with friends and family.

Allen Lamar Edwards, 76, also passed away in Price on Sunday, June 28, 2026, while surrounded by family and friends, according to Mitchell Funeral Home. Born on December 1, 1949, in Dragerton, Utah, he was the son of Lamar Carlyle and Wardella Laverne Ward Edwards.
Edwards married Ricki Jill Mortensen on February 7, 1970, in Elmo, Utah; she predeceased him in 2009. The couple raised three children—Scott, Kevin, and Jill—in Price. Friends and family remembered Edwards as an honorable man with a mechanical aptitude and an adventurous spirit.
