Orchard Elementary is offering multiple kindergarten registration options for the upcoming school year as part of a commitment to providing accessible educational choices. The available programs include full-day registration, a half-day option within a full-day model, and standalone half-day classes.
Students enrolled in full-day kindergarten will follow a schedule similar to other grades in the school. This program includes comprehensive instruction on state-approved standards across all content areas, such as library, PE, and the arts.
A half-day option is available within a full-day model. Students in this program attend for part of the day, with schedules determined by individual schools. Instruction focuses on mathematics and English language arts as required by R27 .730. These students have the ability to transition into a full-day class later. However, midday transportation is not provided for those choosing this option.
A separate half-day class option is also available, which also prioritizes English language arts and mathematics instruction. Unlike the model within the full-day framework, students in this standalone half-day class do not have the option to increase to a full-day class. This specific program requires a minimum enrollment level to operate, and the registration deadline for this class is April 3, 2026. Parents will be notified after the deadline if the minimum enrollment requirement is not met.
All students must be toilet-trained before enrolling in kindergarten. During the registration process, parents are asked to specify if their child is toilet-trained or requires additional support and communication.
For further questions or assistance regarding the registration process, parents are encouraged to contact their school's principal.
