A tragic accident occurred on Utah's US-6 near milepost 147 on Sunday evening, resulting in the death of a 46-year-old motorcyclist. The incident unfolded when the motorcyclist, who had stopped his bike due to a mechanical issue, was struck by an SUV traveling westbound.
The motorcyclist, who was working on his motorcycle, was in the right lane. His passenger had exited the bike and moved belongings to the road's shoulder. Sgt. Luis Silva from the Utah Highway Patrol confirmed that there was no lighting in the area at the time of the collision.
The SUV driver and passenger sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. SR-6 was closed for approximately 3.5 hours for the initial investigation, but it has since reopened. The Utah Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances of the accident.
