The Lehi City Library has opened a new drive-up and drop-off book return box to increase convenience for residents, according to a November 5 report by the Lehi Free Press.
The new return box is located on the west side of the parking lot at the Civic Center building.
Jami Barh, the Lehi Library outreach and community relations representative, stated that while the building has a 24-hour book return, residents requested an additional option.
Staff members retrieve items from the new box several times a day. However, the box will not be open every day and will be closed during holidays when staff are unavailable to retrieve items promptly. Barh noted that for after-hours returns, patrons are encouraged to use the book return located in the Civic Center to ensure items are returned directly to the office.
The library is also launching Comics Plus, a program providing residents unlimited access to digital comics, manga, and picture books without waitlists or limits.
Additionally, the library is preparing to host a puzzle exchange. During regular business hours on November 9-10 and November 12, residents can bring a used puzzle to the library program room on the second floor to receive a ticket. These tickets can be used to claim a different puzzle on November 14 between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
The Lehi City Library moved into its new home at the Civic Center just over seven months ago. The facility currently houses more than 109,000 physical books, newspapers, and magazines.
Barh mentioned that the library continues to grow and change to reflect the needs of its patrons, noting that libraries remain one of the few places where people can visit for free without expectations.
Mayor Paul Binns is scheduled to visit the library on November 16 at 6 p.m. for a family story time event intended for families of all ages.
