September is National Senior Center Month, and this year’s theme, “Happier Birthdays Happen Here!”, is a reminder that growing older is about more than adding candles to a cake. It’s about building connections, finding purpose, staying healthy, and having opportunities to enjoy every year along the way. Our Senior Center is proud to celebrate the people and experiences that make our community stronger.Senior centers are more than places to gather. They are community hubs where older adults can make new friends, discover new interests, access helpful resources, and participate in activities that support health and well-being. As the National Council on Aging notes, senior centers help people live not only longer, but better, through connection, support, creativity, wellness, and community.This September, we invite you to celebrate with us! Whether you’re a longtime participant or have never visited the Community Center before, there’s something for everyone.Celebrate birthdays and communityJoin us for Birthday Tuesday on September 8 at 11:30 a.m., featuring entertainment and a celebration of September birthdays. Lunch sign-up is required. We’ll also gather for our Fall Banquet on September 17 at 11:30 a.m. Sign up in the office to attend.Get out and exploreSeptember includes several opportunities to enjoy the community, including a Bee’s game vs. Round Rock on September 9 at 5:30 p.m. and a Utah State Fair trip on September 18 at 10 a.m. The fair trip is $10. Multiple opportunities will also be available to tour the Major Brent Taylor Foundation 9/11 Project 2026.Invest in your health and well-beingTake advantage of free hearing testing on September 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (appointment required) and the Senior Health & Wellness Fair on September 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sign up if you plan to stay for lunch. Don’t forget Coins with Gene on September 15 at 10 a.m.

This Senior Center Month, come celebrate the friendships, experiences, opportunities, and memories that make each year meaningful. You don’t have to wait for a birthday to find something to look forward to.
