Governor Spencer J. Cox issued an executive order Thursday declaring a statewide state of emergency in response to extreme drought conditions, according to a news release from the Governor’s Office.
The declaration comes as Utah faces significant environmental challenges following a period of record-breaking weather patterns.
According to the news release from the Governor's Office, Utah experienced its warmest winter on record. This warm winter was accompanied by the lowest snowpack levels recorded.
The executive order establishes a state of emergency for the entire state to address these drought conditions.
