A free community group walk titled Walk with a Doc is available to the public. The event features an expert who will spend a few minutes discussing a current health topic before leading a one-hour healthy walk.
Participants are encouraged to bring friends and their own water to the event.
All participants must register prior to the start time of the event. The walking activity is noted for several health benefits, including improving mood, reducing stress, and lowering blood pressure.
Additional benefits mentioned include strengthening the heart and bones, improving memory, and improving body composition.
For Intermountain Health caregivers, participating in the 60-minute walk can earn a $20 Be Well reward, with a limit of one per month. To be eligible for this reward, employees must complete three specific steps.
First, caregivers must register to attend before the event start time. Second, they must attend the event and complete both the health talk and the 60-minute walk. Finally, they must complete a survey at the end of the walk.
