According to a press release from the Department of Public Safety, the pileup on northbound I-15 at milepost 339 happened Friday, June 5, at approximately 2:52 p.m. The crash involved nine vehicles and included a Dodge Ram towing a 32-foot toy hauler traveling in the left lane during heavy traffic.
Reported fatal collisions
The department also documented several fatal collisions during the same period. On May 31, a Nissan Rogue overturned and struck a concrete irrigation structure while traveling westbound on I-80 near milepost 158 in Coalville. In Tooele County, a black Ford Expedition was involved in a fatal crash on SR-36 on June 4.
Other notable traffic incidents
Other notable incidents reported by the department include a May 28 collision in Juab County, where a semi-truck traveling on SR-132 near Leamington struck a train at a railroad crossing, causing the train to derail. Additionally, a motorcycle crash occurred on May 25 on SR-89 involving a tour bus carrying 29 occupants.
