Republican candidates ranging from U.S. Congressional hopefuls to local town council candidates met in Colorado City, Arizona, on May 30 for the first candidate forum since the establishment of the Mohave County Republican Central Committee District 4.
Forum event details
The event at Cottonwood Park was organized by District 4 Director Carl Pavilonis and Renae Pavilonis to engage voters ahead of the July 21 primary election. The forum featured U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, who is running for re-election to Arizona's 9th Congressional District, as well as gubernatorial candidate David Schweikert.
Legislative and local candidates present
According to a report from the Uzonna Record, several candidates for Arizona's Legislative District 30 were also present, including David Rose, Mike Gannuscio, Grace Hecht, and Caroline Strecker. The forum also drew attendees running for Secretary of State, State Treasurer, and local Mohave County offices.
Big 12 basketball schedule update
In separate news, the Big 12 Conference announced Thursday the home and away designations for the 2026-27 men's basketball season. As KSL Sports reported, the Utah Runnin' Utes will face a demanding road schedule that includes trips to Arizona and Arizona State.

Utah's home slate at the Jon M. Huntsman Center will include matchups against Baylor, BYU, Cincinnati, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and West Virginia. The conference schedule features 18 games, with three opponents—BYU, Colorado, and Oklahoma State—appearing twice.
