Kaysville is entering the summer season with a variety of community celebrations scheduled, most notably a Freedom Week running from June 29 through July 4. The week-long event, which honors America's 250th anniversary, includes activities such as a patriotic devotional, pickleball, basketball, and volleyball tournaments, concluding with fireworks on July 4.
Freedom Week event schedule
The Freedom Week schedule features the Pickleball Freedom Rally on June 29, the Basketball 3V3 Hoopfest at Barnes Park on June 30, and the Volleyball Freedom Frenzy on July 1. The festivities continue with Movies in the Park and Food Trucks on July 3, followed by a full day of events on July 4 including a 5K and 10K Fun Run, a parade, and music.
Community member recognitions
In addition to summer celebrations, Kaysville City recently recognized several community members for their contributions. The City Council honored Kim Smith for her 25 years of service as the founder and advisor of the Kaysville Youth Court. Additionally, members of the Kaysville Fire Department and medical staff from Holy Cross Hospital – Davis were recognized for their life-saving efforts in treating Dr. Layne Kamalu following a cardiac arrest.
Safety reminders and city news
Mayor Tami Tran issued safety reminders for residents using trails and roads, specifically advising e-scooter and bike riders to wear helmets and remain alert. The city also noted the passing of former City Manager John Thacker, who served the community for 36 years.
