On May 23, 2025, Utah DHHS received notification of an individual who traveled through Utah toward another state while having measles. Officials stated that anyone potentially exposed by this traveler was notified, and no reports of subsequent infections from this contact were recorded.
A second case was reported on June 2, 2025, involving a person who traveled to southwestern Utah while infectious on May 26 and 27, 2025. This individual visited several public locations during their time in the region. Utah DHHS and local health departments worked to notify those who might have had contact with this person.
Utah DHHS stated that more travelers with measles are expected to enter Utah as the disease continues to spread across the United States. The agency noted that vaccination remains the most effective protection against measles and intended to continue updating information regarding new exposure situations.
