The Skyridge girls volleyball team has been ranked No. 3 in the preseason Class 6A coaches poll. The Falcons are also listed at No. 3 in the Region 3 rankings, trailing only Corner Canyon and Lone Peak according to the vote.
This ranking sets the stage for an intriguing league race for the Falcons under second-year Coach Taylor Hifo.
Skyridge earned the region championship last season and held the No. 1 RPI ranking entering the state 6A tournament. However, the team was upset by the Chargers in the title contest and finished with a 27-3 record.
While Class 6A Player of the Year Kylie Buttars is now at BYU and three other graduated teammates have moved on to other colleges, five players return with significant varsity experience.
Junior outside hitter Sienna Kuresa returns for her third varsity year. Last season, she played every set and averaged 2.7 kills, 2.0 digs, and 5.2 serve-receives. Kuresa also contributed 25 aces, 26 combined blocks, and 14 assists with a kill percentage of 32.7.
Senior libero Estelle Slaney was a major contributor last season, posting a 91.25 serve percentage with 47 aces. Slaney averaged 4.3 digs and 3.0 serve-receives per set and provided 113 assists.
Junior middle blocker Lucy Meck played in 77 percent of the team's sets last fall. She recorded 55 kills, 17 aces, 92 points, 71 combined blocks, 51 digs, and 13 assists. She is expected to take on an expanded role this season.
Two other spot players from the 2025 roster are expected to step forward as seniors. Emma White provided 34 kills and 25 points along with 1.5 digs and 2.6 serve-receives per set played. Anzlee Holt provided 18 points, 106 digs, and 23 serve-receives in her appearances.
Skyridge is scheduled to host West on Tuesday, August 11, to begin the 2026 campaign. On Wednesday, August 12, the Falcons will visit Pleasant Grove. Both preseason matches are scheduled to begin around 6:30 p.m. The Region 3 opener at Corner Canyon is scheduled for September 15.
