San Juan County Commissioners voted in mid May to pass an ordinance requiring all businesses within San Juan County to possess a business license. This measure was implemented to ensure county businesses qualify for certain COVID-1CO relief funds.
In conjunction with this ordinance, the county has decided to waive fees for businesses seeking to acquire a license through December 31, 2020.
The requirement for a business license stems from the fact that most relief funding necessitates that businesses hold some form of licensure. While licenses from Bluff, Blanding, and Monticello were considered adequate, the county needed a way to document that businesses receiving funding either held a license in one of those towns or had an application pending with the county.
Business applications for this process require the name, physical address, mailing address, and phone number of the person, partners, or legal agents seeking the license. Additionally, applicants must provide the nature of the business and where it is being conducted.
