Kaysville GIVES reported a successful year after delivering Christmas to more than 120 families. The initiative utilized support from partner Young Truck and Trailer, along with contributions from various businesses and individuals through Amazon, the Kaysville GIVES website, virtual tree tag donations, and the Fill the Firetruck event.
Program volunteers and city support
The success of the program was supported by volunteers Mindi Edstrom, Crista Crane, Tami Tran, Karen Dent, Emily Murphy, Shannivee Frasure, and Shanna Baker. Behind-the-scenes assistance was also provided by staff from Kaysville City Administration, Parks and Recreation, Power, and the Fire Department.
Wreaths Across America ceremony details
In other community news, Wreaths Across America held a program on December 17th at the Kaysville City Cemetery. Organized by Nancy Tippets, volunteers placed 153 wreaths on graves to honor veterans, service members, and POWs.
City Manager resignation announcement
Kaysville City Manager Shayne Scott has announced he will resign effective February 6, 2023, to accept a new position as Summit County Manager. Mayor Tran expressed gratitude for Scott's six and a half years of service and noted that an Interim Administrative Officer will fill the position temporarily until a new manager is hired.
Upcoming holiday closures and deadlines
City residents should note that City Offices will be closed on Monday, January 16, 2023, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, though garbage collection will not be delayed. Additionally, the 2023 RAMP grant applications must be submitted to the Kaysville RAMP Advisory Committee by February 17, 2023.
