An urgent water notice has been issued for Beaver residents following contamination caused by flash flooding. City officials alerted the community at 6 p.m. Sunday, warning against drinking tap water or using it to prepare food, brush teeth, or make ice until further notice.
Officials noted that bottled water is the safest alternative during this period.
For residents who do not have access to bottled water, authorities instructed them to bring tap water to a rolling boil for three minutes and allow it to cool naturally before use.
In the Grove neighborhood, specifically from the Canyon Ballfield moving eastward, there will be no water access at all, according to authorities.
The water notice follows an evacuation order triggered by catastrophic flash flooding in the region. Runoff from the Cottonwood Burn Scar caused massive debris flows consisting of mud, rock, and vegetation to surge through the area.
More surges were expected throughout Sunday evening.
