As one of the most experienced journalists in the Salt Lake City market, Smith spent more than 30 years documenting significant moments in Utah. He began his professional career at KTVX before spending much of his career at KUTV.
Colleagues described Smith as a master storyteller who approached assignments with professionalism and empathy. Within the newsroom, he was known for his ability to solve technical challenges with a positive attitude.
