Colorado head football coach Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders and the Buffaloes were set to represent the program on Tuesday, July 7, at the 2026 Monster Energy Big 12 Football Media Days. The event was held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
Coach Prime was scheduled to be joined by quarterback Julian Lewis, wide receiver Danny Scudero, tight end Zach Atkins, and defensive backs Ben Finneseth, Naeten Mitchell, and Cree Thomas. The Buffaloes were slated to appear on the first day of the two-day conference event alongside Arizona State, Baylor, BYU, UCF, Houston, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech.
The media days featured a full schedule for the Colorado staff and players, including appearances with national outlets such as ESPN, FOX, TNT/Bleacher Report, and The Athletic. Coach Prime was scheduled for a main stage appearance and a coaches roundtable during the event. Portions of the first day were scheduled to air on ESPN2, with live coverage on ESPNU and Big 12 Studios.
The Big 12 scheduled the event to honor the late Adam Munsterteiger, who was the founder, publisher, and a longtime Colorado beat writer for BuffStampede.com. Munsterteiger, who passed away in May, was described as a respected voice who covered the program for over two decades.
The Colorado football team was scheduled to open the 2026 season on September 3 against Georgia Tech. The team's home opener was set for September 12 against Weber State at Folsom Field.
