The Glendale/Mountain View Community Learning Center is hosting several summer educational and community support programs this month, including English as a Second Language workshops for parents and a mobile food bank event.
ESL Program Details
The Community Learning Center's June calendar includes multiple sessions of the Empowering Parents ESL summer program. Held on various dates throughout June, including June 1, June 3, June 8, June 10, June 15, and June 17, these classes focus on helping participants navigate the United States educational system.
ESL Curriculum and Language
According to the Community Learning Center, the ESL sessions teach skills such as understanding report cards, reading with children, and engaging with teachers and the Parent Teacher Association. The program is offered in both English and Spanish.
Mobile Food Bank Event
In addition to educational workshops, a mobile food bank event was scheduled for June 11. Organized in partnership with the Utah Food Bank, the event provides food to community members in need while supplies last.
USU Eastern Athletic Facilities
Utah State University Eastern also maintains active campus facilities for students and the public. The Bunnell-Dmitrich Athletic Center (BDAC) provides access to an exercise and training room, free weights, and racquetball courts.
BDAC Membership and Pricing
The BDAC offers various membership options, including free access for full-time USU students and USU faculty or staff. Annual individual memberships are priced at $325, while discounted rates are available for veterans, seniors, and first responders.
