The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reached a record number of full-time missionaries serving around the world. According to church leaders, about 88,500 missionaries were in the field, which surpassed the previous high recorded in 2014.
Officials credited the increase in part to the first wave of 18-year-old sister missionaries beginning their service.
Church leaders also expressed thanks to the families and supporters who help missionaries during their assignments.
