The Bear Lake Special Service District announced in a report published August 31 that it will hold a public hearing on September 17, 2026, regarding proposed adjustments to sewer rates and fees. The meeting will also address new provisions concerning access to District sewer manholes and related facilities.
The proposed sewer rate and fee adjustments are being considered to ensure revenues are sufficient to operate, maintain, repair, replace, and improve the wastewater collection and treatment system. These adjustments are based on current and anticipated needs, as well as findings from a sewer rate study conducted by the Rural Water Association of Utah.
Additionally, the District is considering provisions to ensure sewer manholes and other facilities remain visible and accessible for maintenance, inspection, repair, and emergency response. Property owners with buried or obstructed District manholes may be notified and given a reasonable opportunity to restore access. Any costs or penalties resulting from violations would be subject to District ordinances, resolutions, or policies.
The public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bear Lake Special Service District, located at 147 West Logan Road, Garden City, Utah 84028. The District's regularly scheduled Board meeting will begin prior to the hearing at 4:00 p.m.
Interested individuals may provide public comments, though individual comments may be limited to two minutes. Written comments may be submitted in advance to the District at its Garden City address.
